The first
week of June, Captain Jacobs assisted by Ex-Captain Rooney and
Lieutenants Charry and Kelly instructed the Vigilant
Probationary School.
Seeing the need for individual hands-on
training, Jacobs and Rooney put
together a five night intensive program mandatory for all new firefighters.
Members learn about
engine and
truck operations, personal protective
equipment,
self-contained breathing
apparatus and how to properly
utilize
them. The last night, members test
themselves by putting out fires
in the training tower and searching for
trapped victims by using
the techniques they have learned.
